CBJ Energy is a financing, business development and operations solutions firm with a track record in creating, managing, and growing successful businesses and products in the clean economy space and beyond.  Claire Broido Johnson, whose distinguished career spans clean energy, finance, government and successful start-ups, leads the company.

CBJ Energy develops and supports early stage start ups with business development, operations, and fundraising. CBJ also finances renewable and energy efficiency projects.  We work with financers, contractors, developers, integrators, and building and land owners to retrofit commercial buildings, install renewables and storage, and update businesses and services.

Our clients have included: technology company and building optimization company Katerra, solar developer Power52 Energy Solutions, Next Step Living, Thread, and Baltimore City Public Schools.  

Claire is a Co-Founder of SunRock Distributed Generation as of 2022 and remains an Advisor and Board Member.

Claire spent 2019-2022 as the Managing Director of Maryland Momentum Fund where she invested in 32 Maryland headquartered start-ups across all industry verticals in support of building the entrepreneurial community in Maryland. 3 have since had successful exits as of 2024.

She spent a year as Chief Operating Officer of Fermata Energy where she continued to operate and find solutions to our climate change problems in the mobility space.

Claire has spent her career supporting early stage start-ups solving our climate change problems, and currently is acting as an Advisor to Ally Energy, Kanin Energy, H-L Ventures, and as an investor in Generate Capital, Powerhouse Fund and Clean Feet Investors.
